2020 Awards Banquet (on ice!)
This is the Florida Everblades Figure Skating Club's official website. FEFSC is a member club of the United States Figure Skating Association (USFSA), which is the governing body of the sport of figure skating in the United States.
The club is a United States Figure Skating Association club and as such abides by all USFSA rules and guidelines. The Club sponsors USFSA Test sessions and holds a USFSA competition annually. Our club not only offers themed skating parties throughout the year for members and their families but also a fantastic Awards Banquet every year. The annual Holiday Show is something not to be missed!
The main objective of FEFSC has been to promote figure skating in the Southwest Florida area since its establishment in the year 2000.
The Florida Everblades Figure Skating Club's home rink is Hertz Arena, located at 11000 Everblades Parkway, Estero, FL 33928.
Ice Etiquette Rules and Guidelines
This outlines the expected ice etiquette rules and guidelines for all skaters, parents, and coaches to be aware of while in this environment. Etiquette is defined as the respectful and considerate behavior performed by all parties while participating in figure skating activities at Hertz Arena. These rules are to ensure the most safe and fun experience possible for the skaters, their families, and staff. • Prior to taking the ice, it is mandatory to sign in at the recreation desk and pay for any lessons. • We ask you to respect the building by throwing your trash away before leaving the ice. • Verbal/physical abuse toward any skater, parent/guardian, or coach will not be tolerated. • Parents are asked to refrain from coaching their child(ren) during practice because this can be distracting to peers and coaches. If you have any questions or concerns, a coach will be happy to discuss with you after the lesson. • Parents are asked to watch from the lobby or stands, not leaning against the glass or sitting in the penalty boxes, to prevent distracting skaters and coaches . • Parents are asked to refrain from standing on the ice while wearing anything other than skates. • Music will be played first-come-first-serve, skaters in lesson having first priority. • The skater whose music is playing has the right-of-way. It is the responsibility of every other individual on the ice to be aware of the skater performing their program and yield to this person . • The priority of skaters to keep out of the way of is 1) Skater with music on in lesson; 2) Skater with music on; 3) Skater in lesson; 4) Higher-level skater; and 5) Beginner skaters. • Beginners should skate close to the boards. • Practice spins in the space between the two blue lines. • Be aware of the corners of the rink, as these are known as jump corners . • All skaters must get up quickly after falling to prevent endangering other skaters on the ice. • If you are a less-experienced skater, watch out for other skaters and check your surroundings. • If you are an experienced skater, watch out for less-experienced skaters. • Parents of skaters are responsible for the behavior of their children at all times. • The corners of the ice surface are considered “jump zones.” • All spins are to be practiced between the blue lines. • When the Zamboni doors open, all skaters and coaches are required to leave the ice promptly so the ice may be resurfaced and the schedule remain on time. • No chewing gum while on the ice.
Thank you for taking the time to read the ice etiquette and guidelines. Let’s implement these rules to allow fun to take place for all under safe conditions.
Best, Kandis Hawkins
